Whether it be in small donations or Lady Gaga’s bracelet, Japan is getting a lot of help because of the recent earthquake that shook the country. And in New York, several artists will gather on April 9th for a concert in support of Japan, called "Concert for Japan."

* The event will be at the Japan Society and should last 12 hours. Apart from the performances, there will be many workshops teaching aspects of Japanese culture such as Oriental lanterns and origami. Here are some people who have already confirmed their participation: Lou Reed, Bill Laswell, Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass and John Zorn, the organizer of the project, and Ryuichi Sakamoto Oscar-winning musician and partner of Jacques Morelenbaum.

* Incidentally, Sakamoto even left a message of strength to the victims of disaster: "This is a time to acknowledge our arrogance in thinking we can control nature. I send my deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones. "
