Glamurama said that Sotheby was auctioning in London, a batch of 20 precious objects of the Duchess of Windsor. The auction, held on Tuesday, was an amazing success and raised almost three times the expected, nearly 8 million pounds.

* The first highlight was the panther shaped bracelet Cartier made out of onyx and diamond. The piece was sold for a record 4.5 million pounds, a lot more than the estimated 1.5 million. Rafael Lupo Medina, a Brazilian working at Cartier Paris, told Glamurama he got the flamingo brooch made out of ruby, sapphire, diamond, citrine and emerald Cartier Collection to the museum. The bid was just over 1.7 million pounds.

* David Bennett, chairman of Sotheby’s, made an emotional statement. "It was a great pleasure to bring back those jewels that were worn by a forerunner of fashion, elegance and sophistication for her generation as much as for today. This collection consists of pieces made by Cartier in the 20th century, which, besides incredible, tell one that, perhaps, was the greatest love story of the time.
