Known as the Iron Lady when he held the post of prime minister of Britain, from the late 1970s to the early 1990s, Margaret Thatcher has a conservative style in fashion as well as in politics. This week, a symbol of her authority – a purse – was sold for US$ 39,000 in a charity auction at Christie’s in London.
* The piece of the brand Asprey, black and minimalist, belonged to Thatcher for 30 years. So iconic, that the accessory ended up creating an expression in the country: "handbagging" in reference to the aggressive way in which Margaret was dealing with political enemies.
