The opening of the 3rd Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival, which will present 12 long and short films produced in Brazil in the last two years, shook things up in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Hosted by Camila Alves, the ceremony was attended by directors like Charly Braun, who participated in the festival with the film "Por Ell Camino."

* Next to Argentine actor Esteban Feune deColombi, protagonist of the film, Charly couldn’t hide the pride in his work, which had a cameo by Naomi Campbell. "I’m going to four more festivals in the U.S. and Europe," he said.

* Mariana Ximenes, who looked beautiful dressed in a Alaïa, was received the Horizon Award. "It’s 15 years of dedication, I’m really happy to have this recognition," she said, cheered for Talize Sayegh, founder of the event, and Humberto De Biase, LG, in his opening speech.

* Beside Pedro Kos, one juror and curator of the festival, Talize praised the night’s movies. "They’re beautiful movies, naturalists, part of this amazing crop of Brazilian cinema," he said about the short film "Recife Frio," and the feature "Riscado" both highly praised by Pedro, who, incidentally, was the editor of "Wasteland."
