In celebration of MTV’s 30th birthday, on August 1, "Billboard" magazine asked readers to choose the ten best videos of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. The winners were, respectively, "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, "Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears, and "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga.
* Other artists who have used videos to advance their careers since MTV came along also appear in lists, such as Madonna, Duran Duran, Janet Jackson, Katy Perry and Rihanna.
