This weekend, Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo will be filled by works of 54 contemporary Brazilian artists like Nelson Leirner, Matheus Rocha Pitta, Valentino Fialdini, Carlito Carvalhosa, Delson Uchôa and Laura Lima. The reason? The auction of the Brazilian Association of Contemporary Art, led by Alessandra d’Aloia and Luisa Strina, to be held on Monday, with works donated by 28 art galleries that are part of the entity.

* The event is open to the public, and the amount raised will be used in development projects in the sector, including a large collection of data that will map the numbers of art and its representation in the economy. Aloísio Cravo, the auctioneer of the event, also gave up his commission for the cause. Pinacoteca, supportive of the project, will choose one of the works to be part of its permanent collection – something participating artists and gallery owners are really looking forward to. Cool!
