Caetano has said numerous times that it took him a wile to understand Los Angeles. But the city got him in a second. It was there that he sang at the Oscars in 2003, and on Saturday, he was the focus of MOCA’s Annual Gala, led by artist Doug Aitkens. Sharing the stage with Beck and Devendra Banhart,and the tables at the gala dinner with Gwen Stefani, Kate Bosworth, Chloe Sevigny, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, among others.
* Impeccable with costumes by Felipe Veloso – Alexandre Herchcovitch suit, tie and Gucci shoes – Caetano sang only two songs: "Nine Out of Ten" and "Maria Bethania". But, according to the Los Angeles Times, despite the brief appearance alongside Beck and Devendra, "the resonance of his music striking Los Angeles was touching and impressive," said the music critic for the newspaper.
* Caetano is already back in Brazil. On Saturday he plays in Bauru alongside Maria Gadu, continuing a tour of the new dual of Brazilian Popular Music.
