Carlito Carvalhosa, who on Wednesday opened at MoMA the installation "The Sum of Days", is in New York. And he is among family. The artist is there with his wife, Mari Stockler, daughters, Cecilia and Maria, and mother, Margarida Cintra Gordinho, and Ligia Carvalhosa Xavier, his niece. Gil Carvalhosa Leite is also there. The work is a huge maze of white translucent material, created by Carlito to change the spatial reference of the visitors.
* Within the facility, there will be performances by musicians and composers such as Lisa Bielawa, David Crowell and Philip Glass. The gallery owners Nara and Daniel Roesler and Sofia Carvalhosa, Carlito’s cousin, should also be there for Glass’s presentations, scheduled for September 6 and 7. The work of the Brazilian artist, who is in the U.S. museum for the first time, will be on display until November 14.
* In time, Gil, a partner at super hip Le Jazz Brasserie, is taking the opportunity to search for new things for his restaurant in Pinheiros. We can expect good things!
