This Monday, Flea, bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, was spotted visiting quite an unusual place. The musician, who is in Sao Paulo for a show at Anhembi, went to the Samba da Vela. He arrived with four American friends and snuck in without much fuss. He sat near the samba musician Magnu Souza, founder of the roda de samba created 10 years ago in the south part of the city.
* For those who aren’t familiar, the idea of Samba da Vela is to reveal unknown sambas. The roda sings and drums while the flame of a candle lasts, roughly between nine and eleven p.m. "I love samba, it’s all very beautiful," said Flea. The rocker, who is staying at Fasano hotel, is going to Rio de Janeiro at the end of the week, to play at Rock in Rio on Saturday.
