Director Bruno Barreto is about to close a deal with the star international who’ll play the lead in his next film. He’s not naming names, but says the actress is a Hollywood A lister. She will play poet Elizabeth Bishop, who lived in Brazil for three years on account of her relationship with Brazilian planner Lota de Macedo Soares in the 1950s. "Gloria Pires will play Lota," he said. "I decided to do the film after I saw my ex-wife, Amy Irving, doing an American version of the play ‘Um Porto para Elizabeth Bishop’." We’re expecting good things!
