Alex Cerveny did an incredible job with the illustrations of the book "The Adventures of Pinocchio", published by Cosac Naify. The artist worked on it for months, using a technique of the late 19th century and contemporary to the work, called "cliché verre".
* Used by artists of the period, such as Camille Corot and Charles Francois Daubigny, the technique consists of scorching a glass plate with a candle, making it opaque with soot and then drawing on this surface with a needle or a sharp object. The drawing should be done quickly and gently. The result is the negative of the drawing, of which there will be a photographic contact before finally be printed.
