Oscar Niemeyer already knows when it’s going to be given to him the “João Ribeiro” medal, from Academia Brasileira de Letras (Brazilian Academy of Letters). The architect might get the visit of Marcos Vilaça, president of the Academy, on July 14th, at 3:30pm, in his own office at Avenida Atlantica, in Rio.
* The most important honor of the Academy was given to Niemeyer due to him being one of the most important architects of the last 100 years, besides being a great artist. Pioneering the exploration of constructive and plastic possibilities of concrete has made him known internationally.
