We here at Glamurama were very excited about Oscar Niemeyer’s 103 birthdays, which happened on Wednesday. You can’t help thinking about all the great works of this genius and that’s why we asked those who know the subject very well for input. Our question: What work of Niemeyer would you like to have done? Check out the answers:
* Dado Castello Branco told us that although Niemeyer’s most important creation is Brasília, the one he likes best really is the Museum of Contemporary Art in Niteroi. "Because of its design and the place where it was built and everything it represents," he said.
* Marcelo Rosenbaum also chose the Museum of Niterói: "The view from across the river is amazing!"
* Although he has very fond memories of great architectural complex of Pampulha, in Belo Horizonte, the work Arthur Casas wanted to have done is Casa das Canoas. In fact he wished he owned it! FYI: The 1951 project was supposed to be the residence of Oscar himself, in São Conrado, Rio de Janeiro
* John Armentano couldn’t pick just one: the first was the Cathedral of Brasilia, "with all the emotion it communicates, "and also the Oca Museum, in Ibirapuera, Sao Paulo: "I find it incredible, contemporary and irreverent, just like everything else he worked on.” What about you, glamurette? What is your favorite work?
