When the organizers of the Golden Globe asked the controversial Ricky Gervais to present the awards this year, they took a risk. But the truth is that nobody knew how far he would go.
* The creator of the original British version of "The Office" fired in all directions right from the opening monologue. And very ironic, added: "You were warned." He talked about the failure of "The Tourist," about Charlie Sheen’s scandals, questioned the sexuality of Tom Cruise and, as icing on the cake, poked at Mel Gibson’s anti-Semitism. He was on fire!
* But all that partying had its consequences. The chairman of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Philip Berk, said in an interview after the show: "He definitely crossed the line. And some of the things were totally unacceptable. I had absolutely no idea what Ricky was going to say so anything I heard was at the same time you heard it. When you hire Ricky Gervais, you expect the unexpected." From the looks of thing, we can probably expect a new presenter next year. Check out the full stand-up comedian act below.
