Remember Prada’s prints from last season? Fruit, leaves and even animals … Well, you can forget about them for the winter 2011/12 collection. Miuccia Prada set aside all these colors and chose a much more limited palette for the brand’s show on Thursday at Milan Fashion Week. A lot of blacks, whites, and few colors, like shades of blue, red and nude. Graphic prints and plaids also made an appearance.
*"[It’s] not [about] a girl dressed like a lady, but a lady rediscovering her innocence," said Miuccia. Which is odd, since the last collection of Prada showed fun and powerful women, rather than naive and well-behaved. But being a walking metamorphosis is part of a designer’s creative process, isn’t it?
* On Friday, Moschino was the highlight of the day and its collection was very far from innocent. The brand’s women have strong personalities and a good part of the collection was inspired by men’s wardrobe or in classic ladylike looks. The main colors of the show were black, white and red, in addition to gold and silver metallic fabrics.
* And the marathon continues into the weekend. The highlights of Saturday and Sunday are Bottega Veneta, Emporio Armani, Jil Sander, Roberto Cavalli, Emilio Pucci, Moschino Cheap & Chic, Marni, Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, Salvatore Ferragamo and Versus. Stay tuned and we’ll tell you everything!
