After four months of speculation, the mystery around who will assume the post of creative director of Lacoste, came to an end. After Christophe Lamaire left the job to take over the artistic direction of Hermès, the brand announced that the Portuguese designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s will assumes the position.
* According to the "WWD" portal, he begins his work next Wednesday. Known for having worked many years on Max Mara, Felipe created his own brand on 2003 and, since 2005, he’s been part of the haute couture week in Paris, alongside brands like Chanel, Christian Dior and Versace on the runway.
* Felipe’s biggest challenge for now is, according to the portal, creating a language that matches the more than ten years of Christophe Lemaire in the house, to bring a young and modern profile to the products – what could make the brand desirable item all over the world. The first collection signed by Baptist will be the Summer 2012, presented only in the second half of 2011. Let’s wait and see!
