Christian Louboutin, worshiped for creating true works of art (without any regard to comfort, by the way), arrived in Brasilia to oversee the preparations for the launch of his brand’s second store in the country, which opens at Brasilia’s Iguatemi shopping mall. To boot, he got a dinner party organized by the architect couple Fernanda and Fernando Adriano.

* On Wednesday afternoon, Louboutin took a walk around the mall. By early evening, he gave interviews and made a pit stop for a quick shiatsu, before meeting up with the 100 guests, nearly 75% women, of course. Set up just meters away from the President’s official residence, the shoemaker arrived to the party shortly after 9 pm and left at 11pm, after much chitchat and many pictures.

* Smiling, friendly and very cheerful, Louboutin charmed customers and the leading names of society in Brasília. In fact, what you saw was a festival of red soles back and forth, of all sizes and shapes – pumps, sandals, clogs and even flats. All vying for space with Valentino, Missoni and Gucci dresses, not to mention the endless parade of bags: Chanel, Diane von Furstenberg, Bottega Veneta, Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen and Balmain.

* Christian was expected to stay for only an hour or so, since he was very tired. But, after a couple of caipirinhas, the only reason that designer didn’t dance until the wee hours – as he did in 2009 at the opening party of his store in Sao Paulo – was that the music never really took off. A pity.

* The heat didn’t discourage the party goers. The night was fueled by Veuve Clicquot Champagne, and shrimp “bobo”, which Louboutin skipped because he “doesn’t like fish.” The night’s biggest hit were the refreshing drinks made of berries, grapes and coconut milk – delicious! Valéria Leão was in charge of the décor, which Gui Siqueira took care of the guest list. And who did he invite? Carlos Jereissati Filho, the former first lady Federal District Karina Rosso, Ana Maria Gontijo and daughter Melissa, Adrienne Jobim, wife of Defense Minister Nelson Jobim, Cleucy Oliveira and architect Denise Zuba. A night to treasure.
