Coluna in english

Getting to Itú, a small town in the countryside of São Paulo and arriving at Fazenda Meda – the ranch that hosts SWU festival – isn’t as easy as it sounds. The traffic is intense and the access to the road is complicated. The whole structure of the festival, which preaches sustainability, is eco-friendly, with panels for capturing solar energy, biodiesel-powered generators and even the use of wind energy.

* The public didn’t forgo comfort or style – many Marc Jacobs wellington boots – for the first day of the event, which was cold and windy. The crowd was eclectic, attendees ranging from Fernanda Paes Leme to Senator Eduardo Suplicy and Roger Flausino, singer of the band Jota Quest.

* Minus points for the event’s organization, especially during the Rage Against the Machine concert with several sound problems. There was also a riot when the crowd took over the premium area right in front of the stage. The security fence didn’t withstand the fury of the fans and eventually collapsed. Let’s hope that this problem is fixed for the next days.
