And the Oscar goes to … Oprah Winfrey! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood will deliver, on November 12, an honorary Academy Award to the presenter for her philanthropic work, the educational initiatives and awareness raising on issues of women and children. This is not the first time that Oprah is honored by the Academy, she was nominated as best supporting actress for "The Color Purple" in 1986, but didn’t take the statuette home.
* Called Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, the trophy will be awarded on 12 November to Oprah, as well as to the actor James Earl Jones and makeup artist Dick Smith, known in Hollywood as the "father of makeup."
