This week, The Recording Academy – responsible for the Grammy Awards – announced the winners of special awards for merit. And Brazil is on the list! Tom Jobim, alongside Diana Ross, Allman Brothers Band and several other very important names in music, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for lifetime contribution to music. The award’s website states that the creator of "The Girl from Ipanema" was "very influential in creating the bossa nova musical style and in its international popularity."
