Soon, at 11am, will roll in the Buenos Aires Park in Higienópolis, the opening of “Ocupação Oxigênio 2011 – Intervenções e Ações de Arte em Parques Públicos” ("Occupation Oxygen 2011 – Actions and Interactions of Art in Public Parks"), curated by Dácio Bicudo e Katia Canton, and which runs until Sept. 30. The name of the project says it all: artists will use the site as a place to showcase their work.
* Among those present will be Lucila Meirelhes, Dácio Bicudo, Monique Allain and Alexandre Ferro. Guto Lacaz, for example, assembles in the fountain pond, right by the entrance, the installation “Raios de Luz” ("Ray of Light"). Nine one-meter-long silver rods keep floating vertically on the water surface, like sunlight penetrating the lake’s surface. "The composition will be accidental, and they’ll sway with the wind. Each beam is anchored not to move too much, just swing a little," explains Lacaz. Cool!
