At a time when Brazil is breathing football more than ever, with World Cup and the Olympics on the way, a historical book about Pelé will be launched in November. Named, “Primeiro Tempo” (“First Half”), for referring to the first period of the ace’s career, the work will have from 300 to 400 new photos by José Dias Herrera, the photographer who most shot Pelé throughout his life. Many of the images have been chosen by the former player himself, who inherited Herrera’s collection after the photographer passed away. Starry names such as playwright Benedito Ruy Barbosa were part of the team of authors of the book, slated for release on November 8 at Livraria Cultura at Conjunto Nacional, in São Paulo. The King, of course, will be there, and there will be a party in his honor after the launch.
