France really knows how to value the local fashion genius. After John Galliano’s award by the government, it’s Christian Lacroix’s time to get a standout position. The stylist was named artistic advisor of La Monnaie of Paris, a type of French Mint house. Lacroix will be responsible for creating limited editions of coins and medals. The designer is also involved in a project to give a new look to the new line of trains of Montpellier, in France.

* FYI: this is not the first time La Monnaie goes to the world of fashion for inspiration. In 2008 Karl Lagerfeld and the then-Minister of Culture, Christine Albanel, designed French euro coins in celebration of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s 125 years.
