The concert of the English duo Tears for Fears, on Thursday in Sao Paulo, had a beautiful moment-tribute. Formed by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, the duo sang Michael Jackson’s "Billie Jean" in ballad version, with lots of guitar. Roland imprinted a melancholy tone to the vocals as the audience cheered.
* But there was more to the evening than just a tribute. The group’s hits drove the sold-out Credicard Hall wild. The first song of the show, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" to the larger than life ending with the megahit "Shout", the audience sang in chorus, danced and was moved. Accompanied by an excellent band, they played "Head Over Heels," "Pale Shelter," "Sowing the Seeds of Love" and "Woman in Chains."
* Thumbs up to the good Portuguese of Roland, a descendant of Spaniards, who shouted, "We are very happy to be back to this magnificent city. I was here 15 years ago and it was fantastic." Another surprise was the backing vocalist Michael Wainwright, who did a great job singing Oleta Adams’ part in "Woman in Chains" – and took photos with new fans at hall of venue after the concert.
* If you missed, the group performs again on October 14 at Credicard Hall – after passing through Rio, Belo Horizonte and Brasilia. Success!
