On Wednesday afternoon, Jorge Yunes opened his home, the famous "house of Manchete," at Europa Avenue, to welcome the guests of his daughter Beatriz Yunes Guarita. Next to her sister in law, Carla Guarita, Beatriz pitched a cocktail party to show the first official exhibition of the duo’s art gallery, with works by sculptor Amilcar de Castro and his son, Rodrigo.
* The space has been operational for five months now and it already has over forty contemporary artists and designers. They represent, for example, Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons, in a partnership with the Tagliatela Gallery, in Marais, in Paris. Although recent, working with art isn’t anything new to Beatriz, who takes care of her father’s entire collection, consisting of about 7,000 works. "I photograph, catalog and do some restoration work when it’s required," said Bia.
* To put together the small exhibit at her father’s, Bia needed a set designer, a curator and a museologist, Eder Chiodetto, to make the best use of the space – already filled with so much art. With the exhibition, Anna Claudia Rocha and Ana Paula Appolinario also launched a new collection of jewelry inspired by the works of some sculptors, such as Amilcar de Castro. Friends and guests took home many earrings, and some bracelets and rings, most with peau d’ange stone. Alessandra Safra was very happy with the outcome. The reason? Part of the sales was donated to her NGO, Viver e Sorrir, which provides assistance to premature children. Success! Come and see who stopped by.
